As the first Pride march in the region, it has been a beacon of hope and progress for three decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal\">On March 18, 2025, the Hungarian parliament passed a law <a href=\"https:\/\/budapestpride.hu\/en\/news\/we-will-not-let-hungarys-largest-regular-human-rights-demonstration-be-banned\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/budapestpride.hu\/en\/news\/we-will-not-let-hungarys-largest-regular-human-rights-demonstration-be-banned\/\">restricting freedom of assembly and effectively banning Pride events<\/a>. The law also authorizes surveillance of demonstrators using facial recognition technology and imposes fines on participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote whitespace-normal\"><blockquote><p><em>The LGBTIQ+ community has existed since the beginning of humanity: we have been here longer and will remain longer than politicians in suits who campaign with exclusion. What we witnessed was not just a celebration of LGBTIQ+ rights, but a powerful demonstration that democracy cannot be silenced and love cannot be banned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 30th Budapest Pride became a <strong>symbol of resistance<\/strong> that echoed far beyond Hungary&#8217;s borders. From families with pushchairs to teenagers draped in rainbow capes, from over 70 Members of the European Parliament to supporters who travelled from 33 countries \u2013 we marched together as one unstoppable force for freedom and equality.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Four buses from Germany<\/strong> alone brought courageous supporters to Budapest to walk together in solidarity. Thanks to <strong>your donations<\/strong> the Freie Ungarische Botschaft can support the costs of the Pride, and the lawyers from the Hungarian human rights NGOs providing legal support with 21,500 EUR in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><em>Budapest Pride cannot be banned. Freedom and love cannot be banned.
