On 9 May, Hungary’s new parliament convenes and elects a new government. That makes 8 May the last day Viktor Orbán and his government will hold office. We are celebrating that in Berlin: together, loudly, and cathartically.
The Freie Ungarische Botschaft warmly invites everyone who has fought, organised, hoped, and sometimes despaired over the past years: activists, supporters, partner organisations, diaspora communities from across the region, politicians and journalists alike. Roundtable discussions will help us reckon with the past and look towards the future – with politicians and representatives of diaspora organisations from across the Central and Eastern European region. Write down the biggest sins of the Orbán regime and throw them onto the bonfire. Draw Orbán, Mészáros, or any other of their accomplices and lock them behind bars. We will also have a fire juggling show and a meme exhibition. The event is family-friendly, with dedicated activities for children. We end the evening with music and dancing.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday, 8 May from 16:00 at Bauhütte Kreuzberg.
